  • Totally bullshit

I went ikea Alexandra to purchase a cabinet. The tag stated contact staff the staff I approach I told him tat I need to get tat particular cabinet, take it tat as if he know every single hair abt the products. Just issue me a POS ORDER ask me go make payment the collect my stuff. A damn f**king attitude. Didn't even bother to confirm is it the right items I need. Causing to to carry a total of 50kg cabinet in 2 boxes back home then discover wrong item then makes me carry back to ikea and exchange. 2 trip 100kg. At exchange the stupid staff say no u open up the box u can't change... More...

  • Very Poor Service

I went to Ikea Store in Alexandra quite frequent;y. I am not sure if any of the consumer notice 1 staff whom I think is a customer service. He is always located at 1st level at the house candles and plants area. Me and my famil notice that 1) He always scratch his hands and fingers which we saw have quite bad skin disease/irritation. He seems not t bother aout his surroundings and mind his own business. 2) When we were selecting things from the rack, we saw him walk to/fro without stopping and smiling to himself. My son saw him and realised and he smile bck at him thinking that the staff... More...

  • IKEA is Terrible

I shopped at IKEA in Richmond and spent quite an amount of money on their products. But I found their costumer service terrible. First, I saw an item in the show room, I copied down the aisle number and everything. But when I went down to the self--pickup area, I couldn't find it. So i asked a worker there (by the way, it took me AGES to find just one worker. Nobody was there at the information table) .The answer I got from the guy was that the item ran out of stock and they would never produce it again. I would it was weird how they still put it in the showroom . Anyways, I got... More...

  • Built in Oven

Recently purchased a Ikea built in oven and installed it the first of November. Ran the self-cleaning for the first time and it caused it to go out. Completely out. Now, after two weeks of still trying to get parts after the service providers has been out twice...we still don't have a oven. Oven is built by Whirlpool and they must have this problem quite often. Whirlpool and Ikea need to let people know of this problem and do something about it to fix it. Waiting for more than 2 weeks to receive parts and service is unacceptable. I would not buy another appliance again from Ikea.... More...

  • Ikea warranties are a SCAM

When my husband and I bought our home we decided we needed a large sofa to fit the living room. Ikea carried the only corner sofa in our price range. Although my husband resisted because of Ikea's past quality issues, I won him over by pointing out the 10 year warranty. Well, here we are, 2 years later and 3 of the underside supports on the sofa have popped off. There's an entire side of the sofa that no one can sit on. That's when I found out about their "original" receipt requirement to utilize the warranty. Of course I don't have the original receipt 2... More...

  • Billy bookcase door

I bought a billy bookcase with seperate doors item numbers(30183507, 80180101) on 29 Dec 2011, DO number:PDT7220354 (Singapore Ikea Tampines). Both items including others were arranged to be delivered and installed on 6 Jan 2012. Here is the diaster: One of the door came damaged when opened up by Ikea guys. It was packed and rejected smae day. 2 days later, Ikea Tampines staff called and told me the item was out of stock and would be able to replace within 2 weeks. 2 weeks past, no one called or feedback. I pick up the phone and called Ikea Tampines, everyone was nice answering to my... More...

DIS-GRUNDTALED - Ikea's GRUNDTAL Light Doesn't Work You need a suction cup to change a lightbulb? I purchased a set of 4 individual GRUNDTAL lights for over my wardrobe. When I got home, I found out that the lights required additional cords and device to connect them that was not indicated on the package. But the kicker is that because the bulb fits so snugly into the shield around it, it requires a little suction cup to change the lightbulb (which is supplied with the light). I tried and I tried, but I could not get the suction cup turn with the bulb. Despite being... More...

  • Ikea beware of "track" lighting

I bought the "tostarp" 5-light ceiling fixture. It was up only about a month before one of the vertical plastic rods used to secure the arms to the ceiling broke, as a result of reasonably gentle directional adjustment of one of the lamps. It snapped at its insertion in the metal crossbar. Those supports should be made of metal, not plastic. "No problem," I thought, "they have a 90 day return policy." But when I found my receipt, it stated that the last valid return date was 30 days after purchase; though the general return policy of 90 days was also... More...

  • Think twice before shopping at Ikea Brooklyn

Having been to Ikea many times in various states and always having fair customer service I was appalled at the treatment and down right rudeness I was showed today at Ikea's Brooklyn location. I showed up this morning to exchange something I bought 2 days ago from their As-Is section. I bought it primarily because I didn't have time to go through the whole store looking for furniture with my one year old in tow. When the item did not work in my space I looked at the receipt and there was no reference to "exchanging" as-is furniture. The only reference says no refunds;... More...

  • Terrible customer service

Dear Sir or Madam: I’m writing to relate my recent experience at IKEA East Palo Alto. On Friday, August 28th, I purchased about $250 worth of items, including 6 folding plastic chairs and 6 black seat cushions to go with them. When I came home, I set up the chairs and put one of the cushions on one of the chairs. At this point I decided I didn’t need the cushions, and I placed them in my car for return to the store. When I returned to the store three days later, on Monday, August 31st, the customer service representative commented on the lint on the cushions, and asked... More...

  • frustrated Pax closet

Ikea helped me design a closet, and one item was not in stock. Now after a month of checking stock for the closest store online, I am told they will not be restocking the item. I can not complete my closet and they will not ship the item or transfer the item from another store that still has it in stock. They won't take phone orders. I spent $3,300 and need to spend $200 more to complete but they won't help, keep getting canned replies. More...

  • Kitchen Nightmare

I purchased a kitchen from Ikea this year and hired one of their own contractors to install it. The installation, customer service from this company was really bad. I ended up firing them as they didn´t know how to install it properly and they did a lot of damage in my house. They also billed me in advance without authorization. I went to IKEA to see if they could help me with the problem and basically they told me that I was on my own. I have received the worst customer service from IKEa and I am filing a complaint with the BBB. I will never shop there again. More...

  • Ikea customer service useless warranty

I have just had the most unpleasant experience in your store. We purchased a total of three Poang chairs from your store over the last year. The most recent three weeks ago. We kept the receipt and the box for that one. Yesterday, one of the other chairs delaminated on the right-side and split apart. We packed it in the box and brought it to the store for exchange. Your CSR, Kumar, after looking at it, said it was used and that the receipt and box were not for that chair. Absolutely true, but it was for the same type chair, which you advertise carries a 25 year warranty against defective... More...

  • replacement parts a waste of time and money!

I had purchased a Malm queen bed frame last year and had to purchase the added metal frame piece and wooden slats that the matress sat on. I had no problems until about 3 months ago when I was getting up from my bed and the one side collapsed in. I picked up the mattress to find that the wooden slats had slid off the frame and bent the metal supports underneath. I tried fixing it a few times only to have the same result. There is a gap in between where both sides of the wood meet in the middle where the metal support beam is and for some reason i think this is causing the problem. I... More...

  • Deceptive advertising

They advertised a stock pot, regularly $40 for $10. One per household, while supplies last. Store opens at 10 AM - they offered free breakfast between 9 - 10 AM so I got there about 9:30. I noticed they were giving something out at door, looked like a flyer about the breakfast but I already had the ad from Sunday paper. Had breakfast, then waited in the line to get in store. 10 AM I enter and look for stock pot. None in the kitchen supply area. The other item I was looking for from the ad was there and I got my limit. Someone said you had to have a coupon to get the stockpot and they were... More...

I bought book shelf at IKEA for $100. and since it was my 1st time in one of their stores I looked at many things and thought after I experienced putting the book shelf together and finding out how easy it was I would go back to the store the following day and buy a dining room set, which was a little pricy, but I like the way it looked. I passed by the book shelf I had bought and noticed it was $30. less because it was on sale. I went to customer service and encountered a very rude & sarcastic woman who said she was the manager. She told me she would not refund the difference. I asked... More...

  • Do not accept returns once opened

I tried to retun a chair today on Nov 8, 08 at Ikea covina. I was at the customer service. The customer svc representative said it was opened box and took my item and went to back room and said he has to inspect it. And it took him about half and hour. Finally, he came with the chair assembled and told me nothing wrong with it. It looks sturdy to him. And he won't issue the refund because it was assembled. But the item was opened for seeing but never installed or used. But it is ridiculous because he assembled it, of course, it is assembled and considered to be his definition... More...

  • Ikea does not accept returns

I had the same problem. I bought a foam mattress from Ikea after I asked the lady responsible of that division about their return policy. She said clearly that it is 90 days if you are not satisfied “Satisfaction Quarentie”. I tried to return the mattress after 10 days since it was a vey bad quality and they had the following excuses: I am returning a used mattress. Which I couldn’t be satisfied if I don’t try it. I am not returning the mattress in its original package. There is no ways I can package the mattress again in its original package. The packaging... More...

  • Remind to check IKEA return policy before buying.

I purchased downy comforter at IKEA and opened it for a check at home. I did not like it and wanted to return it. But store manager rejected he return due to the package being open. IKEA policy is no way to return any bedding products once the package is open. The manager told me that it is their policy and they can not return it. They have to throw them away if those products are returned. Everyone must know that it is not possible to return for fabric and bedding products if their packagings are open. It was so surprising to me. How customer can buy those products at... More...
